TriVita Health -- How wholesome living and abiding faith powered Susan Ellison’s triumph over disease

TriVita Health -- How wholesome living and abiding faith powered Susan Ellison’s triumph over disease

From breast cancer to incredible health, the journey that amazed her doctor!

When VitaJournal last visited with Susan Ellison in September 2006, she told of her personal wellness journey through breast cancer and beyond, celebrating five years of cancer-free living.  Since then, she’s continued her personal regimen of exercise, healthy eating and supplementation with quality TriVita Products.  Now, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Susan shares the inspiring new developments in her journey.

“I was determined not to end up sitting on the porch in a rocking chair!”

That’s how Susan Ellison responded to discovering that she osteopenia, an early form the weak and porous bones of osteoporosis.  With a busy life as co-founder of TriVita with husband Michael Ellison, mother and grandmother, Susan did something typical: she took action.

She was already nurturing her physical health through regular exercise and smart eating, and her emotional and spiritual health through faith.  The next step: a treatment program for bone strength.  But just months later, she found a breakthrough solution: TriVita Bone Builder which showed remarkable results in clinical trials.  “Brazos Minshew (TriVita’s Chief Science Officer) shared with me the clinical results on TriVita Bone Builder.  They were even better than we had expected, so I started immediately,” she recalls.

Treatment programs can weaken bones, but Susan’s are getting stronger!
Susan was diagnosed with breast cancer after her osteopenia was discovered.  She began a treatment that could potentially cause bone loss as a side effect, so in the summer of 2007 her breast clinic doctor ordered a bone density test.  “This was one year after starting on TriVita’s Bone Builder.  Not only did this test show no additional bone loss, she says, but “there was actually a slight increase in the bone density of my hips!”

In the summer of 2008, two years after adding Bone Builder to her wellness regimen, Susan got even more great news: “My results were good enough that I don’t even have to have bone density test next year!”

Her professional healthcare team, all affiliated with a world-renowned medical center, were amazed by the results.  Here was a woman who already had bone issues when she started a treatment program that can weaken bones, yet she was becoming stronger.  What’s more, Susan also now has “excellent” levels of Vitamin D, and credits the unique formulation of Bone Builder.

Proactive health: exercise, good food, quality supplements and trust in God
Susan takes care of herself with a personal wellness routine that takes effort and time.  She’s been cancer-free for over seven years, and enjoying good health that goes, well, bone deep.
Here’s a summary of her physical wellness habits:

Exercise – Using a small home gym about five times weekly, Susan gets a cardiovascular work out with a recumbent bicycle and elliptical trainer, then lifts light weights.

Eating – Her menus favor fish, light-meat poultry, no-fat dairy products, lots of steamed vegetables and fresh salads, whole grains, and healthy fats from nuts and olive oil.

Supplements – Susan arms herself with superior quality supplements from the company she co-founded.  The TriVita list includes Bone Builder, or course, OmegaPrime, Non-Acidic Vitamin C Tablets, CoEnzyme Q-10, Natural Vitamin E, Odorless Garlic, Adaptogen 10 Plus, Sublingual B-12, B-6 & Folic Acid, Daily Women Formula and NutraFruits.

“Being grateful is a choice that we can make and practice”
Susan continues to keep a journal titled “I’m Grateful,” in which she details all the daily blessings for which she gives thanks.  “The journal, and finding some reason to laugh every day, were key to my recovery,” she recalls.

There’s no doubt that Susan Ellison feels grateful, and blessed.  And that rocking chair on the porch?  Maybe later.  Much later.
