TriVita Health -- How to get strong bones for life

TriVita Health -- How to get strong bones for life

TriVita Bone Builder doesn’t just repair bone loss – it actually encourages bone growth

What is bone?
Bone is living, growing tissue.  It is made mostly of collagen (a protein that provides a soft framework) and calcium phosphate, a mineral that adds strength and hardens this framework.  This combination of collagen and calcium makes bone strong, yet flexible to withstand stress.  More than 99% of the body’s calcium is contained in the bones and teeth.  The remaining 1% is found in the blood, organs and muscles.

Throughout your lifetime, old bone is removed (resorption) by osteoclast cells and new bone is added to the skeleton (formation) by osteoblast cells.  During childhood and teenage years, new bone is added faster than old bone is removed.  As a result, bones become larger, heavier and dense.  Bone formation continues at a pace faster than resorption until peak bone mass (maximum bone density and strength) is reached around age 30.  After age 30, bone resorption slowly begins to exceed bone formation.  For women, the rate of bone loss dramatically increases during the first few years after menopause.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could find a way to increase the activity of these bone-building (osteoblast) cells to the rate of our youth?  If we could, it would mean that our bones would get stronger and denser no matter what our age.  Well, TriVita Bone Builder does just that:  It proved nutrients and bone-building triggers common in youth to make our bones stronger even into our golden years!

The dark side of aging
Osteoporosis is a medical condition where the density and health of the living bone tissue drops to a dangerously low level.  It develops most often when bone resorption occurs too quickly and replacement occurs to slowly.  As we age, this deficit leads to thinning bones and may lead to fractures.

According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, ten million people in the North America have osteoporosis; 80% of those affected by osteoporosis are women.  One in two women and one in four men over the age of 50 will have an osteoporosis-related fracture as they age.  Following a hip fracture from osteoporosis, one in four people will die within a year (the death rate is twice as high for men as for women).  Also, one in four will become complete invalids requiring long-term care.  Only 1/3 of the people suffering an osteoporosis-related hip fracture will heal and return to a normal life.

Aggressive help for bones
Nutrients are essential for all animal and plant life.  Ideally, the foods we eat contain the variety of important nutrients needed to help keep our bones healthy.  Protein, minerals such as calcium and vitamins such as Vitamin D are especially needed in a balanced proportion to provide the support we need for strong bones.  TriVita’s Bone Builder is a supplement formula designed to provide extra, balanced nutritional support that helps you maintain proper bone health.

Bones require calcium and food source calcium is always best.  After all, where do other animals get their calcium?  From fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, fish and some meats!  Humans are no different.  We should eat up to nine servings of fruits and vegetables daily to ensure that we get enough calcium and other minerals.  TriVita Bone Builder includes a “whole food” source of calcium, minerals and protein called MCHC, as the foundation for building healthy, strong bones.

TriVita Bone Builder also uses bone-building messengers from plants called “flavones” that tell osteoblasts to make new bone when we go to sleep.  A hormone called NAMOT (related to melatonin) is created by sunshine with Vitamin D to signal when this building work should begin.  We add NAMOT to encourage bone repair day and night – it’s like adding three shifts to your bone repair crew!

Finally, some bone-removing cells (osteoblasts) get a little too aggressive and remove even healthy, young bone cells.  This phenomenon is caused by inflammation.  So, TriVita Bone Builder contains anti-inflammatory Omega oils.  Reducing inflammation with Omega oils assures that osteoclasts get the right message: only remove old bone.

Young bones at any age
In 2005, TriVita sponsored a study with Arizona State University to determine if Bone Builder could actually help older people grow younger bones.  This one-year study included 114 women of various ages.  It showed that, no matter what the age of the participant – young or old – women could grow new, healthy bone with TriVita Bone Builder.

Bone is living tissue.  It should be healthy tissue.  Proper diet and exercise can lay a foundation for healthy bones.  With proper supplementation, specifically with TriVita Bone Builder, we can have healthy bones that last a lifetime.
