New Omega-3 Study

TriVita's Omega Prime is a great source for omega-3 fatty acids. The importance of consuming omega-3 fatty acids on a daily basis is becoming more and more recognizable. As new case studies surface, doctors and scientists alike discover the true effectiveness of omega-3 fatty acids.

The latest study was performed on men, and focused on prostrate health. "Screening tests for PSA, or prostate specific antigen, are good at discovering prostate cancer, and can save lives." Men typically receive PSA screening during their annual physicals. This latest study shows that omega-3, found in fish oil, may help some men decrease their chances of having aggressive prostrate cancer.

New study supports omega-3s for prostate health Omega-3s from fish may help deter prostate cancer, according to a new report out of the University of California-San Francisco.

A team led by professor John S. Witte, Ph.D., conducted a "case-control" study, in which they compared the diets of 466 men diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer to the diets of 478 healthy men (Fradet V et al. 2009).

They classified the men according to their estimated omega-3 intake, and found that the men who consumed the most omega-3s from fish or fish oil were 63 percent less likely to have aggressive prostate cancer, compared to men with the lowest omega-3 intake. [1]

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential to human health, as you can see by this latest study, but cannot be manufactured by the body. For this reason, omega-3 fatty acids must be obtained from food, or a daily supplement. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in fish, such as salmon, tuna, and halibut, other marine life such as algae and krill, certain plants (including purslane), and nut oils.

TriVita's Omega Prime, omega-3 supplements, supports our wellness in so many ways, starting with helping to reduce runaway inflammation, and now prostrate health in men. Many of us don't realize this, but runaway inflammation can lead to various serious health problems in the body involving the heart, arteries, lungs, joints and more.

TriVita's Omega Prime helps meet the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. One daily dose of Omega Prime provides the amount of Omega-3 recommended by the AHA for healthy individuals, as well as for those who have heart disease or the risk of it.
