Weight Loss

Weight loss is not easy for a lot of people and finding time to exercise is sometimes just not possible. Most people are so busy in their day to day life that having the time for a good healthy meal is out of the question. When you go to the store to buy for your weight loss diet the first place we tend to go is to the frozen food section to get them ‘healthy’ TV dinners that are loaded with all kinds additives and preservatives which are not any good for our bodies.

Our bodies work better when we eat natural foods that God has given us, foods directly from the garden or second best would be frozen or dried. Going to a Farmers Market is a good place to get fresh produce but you need to know your vender who sells the products to make sure that they are growing off of their land and if they use any kind of sprays on their produce.

Our bodies break down the foods we eat for fuel which in turn gives us energy and helps everything function properly. I hear a lot of people say that they eat good most of the time but occasionally eat fast food or convenience foods that are easy to pop into the microwave because of time limitations. Wouldn’t you think eating good and healthy most of the time is going to x out the bad food right? This is how I explain it, every time you stop to gas up your car put 1 gallon of sugar water in your tank, it won’t be long before your car starts to run rough and not perform right for you. This is the same situation for our body, if you continue to put less than best into this vehicle that we are given to run around in, this body will start running rough and it will break down. Unless they figure out how to replace this body without all the trouble associated with that, until then we need to take care of what we have.

The fact is losing weight is not about dieting, it's about nutrition. If you put nutrition in your body it can do remarkable things. I know personally. I have watched my body heal and felt the difference in the energy level just by taking care of it. You need to eat the foods that have the right nutrition to fuel your body and it will thank you by the results you will experience and that in it self will keep you encouraged to stay on track.

Exercise is a great way to lose that weight and you do not need to kill yourself doing it. Walking or riding a bicycle is a great way to keep your body’s metabolism up. The weather is no factor because all you need is a treadmill, stationary bike or you could even walk in place for 15 to 30 minutes a day. You can exercise in your home or office.

Some of these products may even work for you. But what I know is the secret to dieting and weight loss is to watch what you put in your mouth.

If you consume 2000 calories and expend only 600 you have an excess. It isn’t rocket science. That extra portion of supper, that donut at mid morning, that soft drink and candy bar in the afternoon. They all add to the caloric intake.

While it isn’t rocket science it is very hard. You have to be in the right frame of mind, you have to have support, you have to be ready and want to watch what you eat.

Without that you are wasting time, effort and money. So the first thing you need is a plan and the commitment to lose weight. Once you have that your success is not far behind.

The obesity epidemic: Why girth rates continue to increase
The prevalence of overweight and obesity is increasing at an alarming rate all over the world, particularly in developed countries such as the U.S. In the October 9, 2002 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association(JAMA), data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that 31% of adults in the U.S. were obese in the year 2000 compared to 14.4% in 1980.

According to the CDC, about 15% of children and adolescents were overweight in 2000 – triple what the proportion was in 1980.

Defining overweight and obese
The common definition for being overweight or obese may not make much sense to most people. Obesity is defined as having a body mass index (BMI) greater than or equal to 30. Overweight is defined as having a BMI of 25–29.9. So, what is BMI exactly?

Weight Loss

According to some sources, between $33 billion and $55 billion is spent annually on weight loss products and services, including medical procedures and pharmaceuticals, with weight loss centers garnering between 6 percent and 12 percent of total annual expenditure. About 70 percent of Americans' dieting attempts are of a self-help nature. Although often short-lived, these diet fads are a positive trend for this sector as Americans ultimately turn to professionals to help them meet their weight loss goals.

However, sometimes "professional help" doesn't always mean physical trainers. It can also mean taking advice from professionals within the weight loss industry. The obesity epidemic: Why girth rates continue to increase
The prevalence of overweight and obesity is increasing at an alarming rate all over the world, particularly in developed countries such as the U.S. In the October 9, 2002 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association(JAMA), data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that 31% of adults in the U.S. were obese in the year 2000 compared to 14.4% in 1980.

According to the CDC, about 15% of children and adolescents were overweight in 2000 – triple what the proportion was in 1980.

Defining overweight and obese
The common definition for being overweight or obese may not make much sense to most people. Obesity is defined as having a body mass index (BMI) greater than or equal to 30. Overweight is defined as having a BMI of 25–29.9. So, what is BMI exactly?

BMI is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. It is calculated by dividing body weight in kilograms by height in meters squared. That's a lot of math! To make it easier, use our online BMI calculator:

Health risks associated with obesity
In December 2001, the U.S. Surgeon General warned that obesity could soon kill more Americans than tobacco smoke. Imagine this: With all of the advances we have made in hygiene, nutrition and disease control, the generation living now is the first in U.S. recorded history with a shorter life expectancy than their parents. We are killing ourselves and our children with the habits that lead to obesity.

What's behind the epidemic?
Why such large and extensive increases in obesity? Data collected from around the world show that different environmental and cultural conditions contribute to obesity in urban and rural populations.

Experts believe that rising rates of obesity among children and adults may be attributed to a combination of the following:

  • Increasingly sedentary activities such as:
    • Watching TV
    • Using a computer
    • Driving long distances (for example, commuting)
    • Working long hours at sedentary jobs
  • Conveniences which reduce physical activity (think "drive-through" banking)
  • Lack of safe playgrounds for children
  • Increased consumption of soft drinks and other "market-driven" factors that encourage overeating, such as:
    • Larger portion sizes in restaurants
    • Increased sizes of individual food items (such as soft drinks, candy bars, bagels)
    • Increased prevalence of vending machines
    • Greater number of food choices
    • Pervasive marketing of high-calorie foods
    • Marketing strategies that encourage ordering larger serving sizes
  • Emotional overeating, triggered by increased stress
  • Repeated dieting
  • Greater acceptance of obesity in certain cultural groups
  • Girth control in a complex world

Although a number of complex cultural and environmental factors contribute to the obesity epidemic, in the majority of cases, the equation is basic: too many calories consumed and too few calories expended (too little activity) leads to obesity. Fighting Inflammation

I have been reading a lot about inflammation and what it can do to a body. I know there are a lot of people out there that suffer from it and there are those who do not even know they do and most of them end up going to the doctor and trying to fight the pain with drugs. Inflammation does not and is not suppose to be handled this way it can be taken care of with natural herbs.

Doing a search on Google for inflammation you will find that a lot people that hear the word 'inflammation' think of the swelling and redness that accompanies an injury such as a sprained ankle. However, inflammation can also be systemic and caused not by injury but by lack of exercise and a poor diet, I never heard of this but as I was reading all of this I realized that this was talking about me. As I read on it said Systemic inflammation increases the risk of cancer, hypertension, heart disease, gastrointestinal problems, and many other health conditions.

In fact, many anti-aging professionals believe that inflammation is the greatest cause of premature aging, so preventing it is also vital for looking young. Taking on an exercise program is one key to decreasing systemic inflammation, and the other key is to consume a diet that does not promote inflammation.

Arthritis, another form of inflammation, is a chronic disease, which means that you can't completely escape from it by using only medication and other traditional treatments. However, there are some home remedies for arthritis that are considered excellent alternatives because they safe to use, and quite effective.

I do not have arthritis but I do have pain in my back and upper legs due to two surgeries that I had over the summer and I have I have found out that I am not getting the proper exercise.
