Weght Loss

Losing weight can be a difficult process for most people. Most of us know about the importance of dieting, but do we really know where to start? If you're like the majority of people losing weight can be a bothersome reality. So, where do we start?

According to an article written by Judith S. Beck, Ph.D. on MedScape.com entitled No Wonder Patients Have Difficulty Losing Weight! They Don't Know How, she states, "Patients need more than instruction in changing their eating behavior and level of physical activity. They need to change their thinking so they can sustain behavioral change." [1]

If you've read any of my weight loss articles in the past you'd understand my feelings on this important health issue. It's not easy to loose weight just by dieting alone; weight loss has to become a way of life. To lose weight and keep it off, you have to develop life changing habits. However, before that happens, you have to develop the "mindset" that your health is of the utmost importance, after God, of course.

As Ms. Beck states in her article, you have to change the way you think, and get rid of your "stinking thinking." Many scholars conclude that every great invention, and every great plan, and every great development started with a thought. Never underestimate the power of the mind, even when it comes to weight loss.

People over 40 may find it much harder to lose weight, and easier to gain it, because they burn fewer calories than the young. Gaining excess weight is very common for a number of reasons. However, the most common cause is the lack of activity. As we get older, we tend to slow down in the activity department. We spend more time watching our children play, and less time involved in physical activity.

Physical activity, or better know as exercise, typically begins with a thought. Something or someone sparks a thought in your mind about you being overweight or out of shape. From there, just one thought, you make up your mind that your going to get into shape, so you join a fitness center. But, will joining a fitness center sustain you in the long term? No!

That's where this thing about mindset comes in. "Patients need to learn what to say to themselves to boost their motivation daily...to cope with negative emotions...to respond to their 'excuses'", writes Ms. Beck. [1] Yes, it's motivation, not the act of joining a health club, that will sustain you in the long term. Being motivated to lose weight and then keep it off is what's going to drive you when the going gets tough.

If you're determined to succeed at losing weight, simply cutting calories won't guarantee success. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), physical activity is as essential to achieving long-term weight loss as a healthful diet. By themselves, neither exercise nor diet can get you to your goal as effectively or as fast as the two of them can together. That's especially true for people over age 40.

Shedding those excess pounds through physical activity is the best way to lose weight. However, there are many individuals over the age of 40 that have constant weight battles, and physical activity alone does not always seem to help.

Sometimes we need a little extra, maybe even a weight loss supplement, to get us over the top. TriVita has developed a weight loss system that helps burn your body's excess fat, and converts that fat to energy.

A weight loss system like the one by TriVita, called Leanology™, CAN help you lose those extra pounds. Burning calories through exercise and physical activity, and boosting your metabolism with Leanology™, is a great combination. Not only will you lose those extra pounds, you will also start to feel better about yourself, and have more energy at the same time.

"Once patients have learned essential skills, dieting becomes much easier. Adding a focus on helping them change their dysfunctional thinking and solve problems can allow patients to lose weight, keep it off, and improve their physical and psychological well-being." [1]

Develop the proper mindset, become motivated to lose weight, and get started with a weigh loss program like Leanology™. If you adhere to these simple steps, I believe that you will lose weight, and you will start to feel better about yourself. You will also be on a path to better health.
