2. Does your company handle the back-end marketing and follow up?

TriVita sends the Customers and Affiliates a color product catalog and health publication called the VitaJournal every month in the mail which helps to insure re-orders. They also send special email specials and health updates.

3. Has your company been in business for over 5 years?

All TriVita products have a 100% full 60-day empty bottle money back guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with any TriVita product even after using all of it, you will get all of your money back. The products must be pretty good since the return rate is less than 1%.

6. Does your company pay you on a weekly basis?

TriVita pays us commissions via direct deposit to our bank account or to our debit card (our choice) every Friday.

vitamin B12

The subject of vitamin B12 is not new to most vegans, vegetarians or raw fooders. The supplement companies have many people running to their local health (drug) stores in an effort to make themselves deficiency-free, but is this a good idea? A number of issues will be raised in this article and I will attempt to piece together some information from many different and reliable (non-financially-oriented) sources.

A vitamin B12 deficiency is a serious disorder and indications of a deficiency of vitamin B12, when they do reach a stage where they have shown up, can be quite severe. Fatigue, paleness, anorexia, mental confusion, delusions, paranoia, weight loss, respiratory problems, etc. are just some indications that a person may have a B12-deficiency. In my opinion, ME is often a B12-deficiency disorder. If you do think you may have a B12-deficiency, it would be wise for you to seek the advice of a health practitioner (such as myself) who is knowledgeable about B12-deficiencies, for immediate advice. I would strongly recommend that you do something to remedy the situation, as this deficiency can eventually lead to death if left unchecked.

Not all vitamin B12 in food is bioavailable. For instance, the B12 in plant foods (like green vegetables and soy) is an analog form of the vitamin which cannot be used in the human body. This analog B12 can actually interfere with the absorption of other types of vitamin B12, making the reliance on plant foods for B12 very ineffective for many individuals. Soy foods, in particular, appear to cause problems in B12 absorption.

Vitamin B-12

Vitamin B-12 is an important vitamin that you usually get from your food. It is mainly found in meat and dairy products. Vitamin B-12 helps make red blood cells and keeps your nervous system working properly.

Vitamin B12 deficiency can become a major problem, not just for vegans, for many individuals. And it usually results from inadequate absorption of the nutrients in the digestive system. Stress does interfere with B12 absorption> However, "impaired absorption is typically rooted to the inability of the body to absorb vitamin B12 due to recurring or external factors such as aging, complication, diseases, and other infections.

Out of all the external factors that lead to impaired absorption, I believe age is actually what leads to our largest vitamin b-12 deficiency problem. This also leads to a major healthcare system problem. Why? As the largest portion of our population (the baby-boomers) continues to age the number of vitamin b-12 deficiency is bound to increase, because the older you get the harder it is for the body to absorb this nutrient.

A lot of doctors recommend vitamin b12 shots over other oral tablets. However, TriVita's patented Sublingual Vitamin B12 may provide the proper supply of this all important vitamin.

Vitamin B-12

Vitamin B12 is an essential water-soluble vitamin that is commonly found in a variety of foods such as fish, shellfish, meat, and dairy products. Vitamin B12 is frequently used in combination with other B vitamins in a vitamin B complex formulation. It helps maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells and is also needed to make DNA, the genetic material in all cells. Vitamin B-12 is bound to the protein in food. Hydrochloric acid in the stomach releases B12 from protein during digestion. Once released, B12 combines with a substance called intrinsic factor (IF) before it is absorbed into the bloodstream.

Vitamin B-12 Deficiency Symptoms

Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms, like those of many other treatable health conditions, can be virtually identical to age dementia symptoms, senile dementia symptoms and Alzheimers symptoms. As many as 20% of people over age 65 have low Vitamin B12 levels. Correcting the deficiency can help older people resume a full and normal lives.

Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms include:

Loss of appetite

Diarrhea

Numbness and tingling of hands and feet

Paleness

Shortness of breath

Fatigue

Weakness

Sore mouth and tongue

Confusion or change in mental status in severe or advanced cases. This is sometimes confused with dementia. More importantly, even a moderate deficiency of this important vitamin and its counterpart, folic acid, may ultimate contribute to the onset of Alzheimers disease or other related dementias

What Triggers Inflammation?

First off, we have to understand inflammation. So, we have to answer the question, what is inflammation? "Inflammation is a process by which the body's white blood cells and chemicals protect us from infection and foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses." So you may be wondering, what triggers inflammation? There are four basic triggers; trauma, deficiency, stress, and toxins. As we move along, we will take a look at each of the four basic triggers, and then look at how we can deal with inflammation.

When we mention the word "trauma", the first thing that probably comes to mind is an accident which causes some sort of serious or critical bodily injury. Trauma is typically associated with pain and suffering as a direct result of that injury. Even though most inflammation causes pain and/or suffering, inflammation can be a good thing, because inflammation is a natural part of the healing process. As a matter of fact, "without inflammation, wounds and infections would never heal."

Our bodily cells are alive. By many scientists, they are called the "building block of life" Cells are constantly changing, and they are directly affected by everything we do. They grow or change according to the foods we eat. Starving (deficiency) our cells of the proper vitamins, minerals, and nutrients causes our cells to become inefficient, even to the point where they break down. Thus deficiencies can and do happen, weakening the cells causing a chain reaction within our body, ultimately triggering inflammation.

Emotional stress can also cause inflammation. It's been noted that in stressful situations our brain releases chemicals, stress hormones (adrenaline and cortisol), that trigger the release of many inflammatory processes. Because of the widespread damage stress can cause, like inflammation, it's important to know your own limit. However, how much stress is "too much" differs from person to person. many individuals can roll with the punches, while others fall apart at the slightest sign of frustration.

Research points to the fact that we live in a toxic world, and that our bodies are swimming in toxins. Toxins are every where you turn. They are in every breath we take and the food that we eat. Some foods are contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, or other chemicals.

I've even read that foods that carry toxic compounds "can cause the body to hold on to extra pounds by starting an immune reaction that causes inflammation," Toxins created inside and outside our bodies is seemingly unescapable, which leads us to believe that there is no escape from inflammation producing poison.

Our bodies are truly amazing as it can respond to trauma, deficiency, stress and toxins with inflammation. As mentioned inflammation is the bodies natural healing process, but where it all goes wrong is with runaway (chronic) inflammation wherein the body can't shut it down causing auto immune, and many other, diseases.

So how do we keep inflammation in check? According to TriVita's Chief Science Officer, Brazos Minshew, we should learn to become a partner with our bodies. We need to watch for the signs that can trigger inflammation. we should also reduce basic nutrient deficiencies by eating healthy foods and taking quality supplements. One aggressive inflammation fighter is found in the nutrient called Betalains, the main nutrient found in TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea.

We need to walk, run, stretch, and become more active. Activity and/or exercise in any form keeps your mind alert, blood flowing, and muscles moving. We also need to ease our emotional stress and learn how to relax. Anything we can do to help fight off the triggers that cause inflammation will help us live longer and healthier lives.

Sonoran Bloom is destined to become one of the top selling products for TriVita. To learn more about TriVita and/or Sonoran Bloom, click on this Sonoran Bloom link.

B12 Vitamins

We all have felt a little tired, got a little moody, or forget where we put things from time to time. No big deal right, it doesn't happen everyday or does it? The truth is many people have one or more of these symptoms on a daily basis. Sometimes it is due to medical reasons, often it is the lack or deficiency of B vitamins, specifically 13478787 .

What is it?

B12 and folate are B complex vitamins that are necessary for normal red blood cell formation, tissue and cellular repair, and DNA synthesis. A and/or folate deficiency reflects a chronic shortage of one or both of these vitamins. Since the body stores 3 to 5 years worth of B12 B12 and several months’ supply of folate in the liver, deficiencies and their associated symptoms can take months to years to manifest in adults. Infants and children will show signs of deficiency more rapidly, however, as they have not yet established extensive reserves.

B12 is properly maintaining your nervous system and helping to keep nerve cells healthy. This in turn keeps your brain functioning the way it should. B vitamins also assists in the production and regulation of DNA, which is present in every cell in your body. And since this nutrient is also a very strong antioxidant, it helps fight off free radicals which can lead to cancer. It is important that your body gets some vitamin B12 every day. It helps metabolize the food you eat so you can utilize it for energy. It does this by helping turn the carbohydrates in your food to glucose. When the glucose is released into your system, it gives you energy. Many people who struggle with fatigue and low energy often have a vitamin B12 deficiency.

A simple fact still remains, your body requires B-12 vitamins to function properly, along with many other nutrients. As we grow older our bodies are less able to pull B-12, a precious resource from some of the foods most rich in it. This becomes a real problem for many people, even those that do in fact eat a well balanced diet, including foods rich in B-12. Therefore, it has long been stated that in order to reach your daily requirement of B-12 it should be taken in a quality supplement.

Over time, a deficiency in either B12 or folate can lead to macrocytic anemia, a condition characterized by the production of fewer, but larger red blood cells and a decreased ability to carry oxygen. Due to the anemia, patients may be weak, light-headed, and short of breath. A deficiency in B12 can also result in varying degrees of neuropathy, nerve damage that can cause tingling and numbness in the patient’s hands and feet and mental changes that range from confusion and irritability to severe dementia.

Our bodies along with our cells eventually die, thus when a cell dies, the stem cells made in your bone marrow and other parts of our bodies are released back through a chemical trail to the dead cell, basically transforming to the type of cell it is to replace. For me it explains a lot about the aging process because it is defined as cell death and cell replacement. Further demonstrating why some people age prematurely, because stem cells cannot keep up daily with the demand of dead cells. Too many dead cells, not enough stem cells to keep up. On the flip side, if stem cells are not under such extreme demands on a daily basis, and an adequate amount can be produced daily you age slower. A healthy human being is less likely to experience chronic diseases associated with premature aging. Obviously, having a whole lot of stem cells is a very good thing indeed!

Pregnant women need increased amounts of folate for proper fetal development. If a woman has a folate deficiency prior to pregnancy, it will be intensified during gestation and may lead to premature birth and neural tube birth defects, such as spina bifida, in the child.

Weight Loss

In an effort to stop world wide hunger, you can purchase and then donate Leanology™ shakes. Not only are Leanology shakes a great way to lose weight they are also an excellent source of vitamins and nutrients. For some, weight loss may be the first step to living a healthier lifestyle. However, many people around the world are starving to death.

I this latest report by Yahoo! News, 'Alarming' Numbers Go Hungry in 25 Countries: Report[1], The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)is suffering the worse. "Three quarters of the population in the vast central African country is under-nourished, and the DRC also has one of the highest child mortality rates in the world."

The Leanology™ shake has a well-balanced nutritional profile containing elements that are essential to a healthy meal: protein, healthy carbs, healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Besides helping to satisfy ones hunger, the Leanology shake provides the added health benefits of soy, omega fatty acids, and whole food concentrates.

Yes, the Leanology™ shake can provide the necessary vitamins, minerals, and nutrients for a person looking to lose weight, but it can be even more effective to the people that do not have the luxury of eating food on a daily basis. Most donated foods that are reaching these nations are not easily digested. Rice, noodles, and pasta are great fillers, but not beneficial to the human body, especially to the individuals that only get one meal per week. For the most part, their bodies cannot digest the food and some children die as a result of diarrhea, and dehydration.

We have two major problems, one within the U.S.A., and one globally. Obesity is running rampant in the U.S., and starvation is running rampant in many third world countries. We can all do our part to, one, lose weight, and two, help the less fortunate. If you're looking for a weight loss program, Leanology may be right for you. If you're looking to help the starving people of the world, Leanology can help.

Please help me, so I can help others. Every 5 purchases of Leanology™ shakes will net one purchase of Leanology shakes for a third world country. You can also purchase the Leanology™ shakes and donate them yourself. If we all join together, we can prevent the unprecedented starvation around the world. If you do your part, I will do my part. It doesn't matter if your looking to lose weight, or help the starving children around the world, by doing either one you will be helping provide meals to third world countries.

Inflammation and the Flu

As the cold and flu season is upon us, it's time to talk about its causes, and how we can protection our selves from having it effect our lives. Although it's something we cannot control, I believe there are measures we can take to decrease the impact the flu may have on our bodies.

I for one have always suggested preventative medicine as being the best medicine, like taking vitamin C at the first signs of the change in weather, if you're not taking it all year 'round. I'm also a huge proponent of a taking a daily multiple vitamin, something I have done ever since I could remember. I'm also a big advocate about the proper amount of sleep. The three items listed above, vitamin C, multiple vitamins, and sleep, I believe, can go a long way in protecting you from not only the flu, but other diseases as well.

Since I'm not a medical doctor or science professor, I'll leave the explanation of the proper way to protect your self from the flu up to TriVita's Chief Science Officer, Brazos Minshew.

Important Health News - Protect Yourself from the Flu
by Brazos Minshew, TriVita's Chief Science Officer

About this time of year many people ask me what they can do to prevent the flu or minimize its impact. That has never seemed more relevant than today; so, I will address this with the best science we have available today. I say "today's best science" because we simply don't know everything we need to know about preventing and treating the flu. And we need to remember that not all that long ago "current science" said that the earth was flat and diseases were caused by evils spells or dead ancestors.

Many people never get the flu - no matter which strain we are talking about. Do you? When you get the flu, are your symptoms severe? Are there high-risk people living with you? Then your preference for or against preventive measures must take them into consideration. (What if you got it and survived but transmitted it to them and they died? How would you feel?) In any case, 35,000-40,000 people in North America die of the flu each year. It is estimated that this number will double with H1N1.

Flu protection
There are three pathways you need to focus on with flu protection - any variety:

  • Transmission
  • Infection
  • Inflammation

Inflammation
We will begin at the ending: Inflammation from the immune system that incapacitates - even kills - people when they have the flu. MOST IMPORTANT: The flu kills people not by transmission or by infection, but by an inflammatory immune system response called the "cytokine storm."

Our immune system is designed to neutralize and excrete any non-self protein it finds. That includes the influenza virus. The size of the immune response needs to be equivalent to the strength of the invader.

Think of this as a building on fire: small fires are extinguished by local fire fighters. Some fires are so big that fire fighters from other departments have to be called in to help. So, fires are designated as "one-alarm," "two-alarm," "three-alarm," and so on. At a certain point, our immune system pulls all of the alarms and immune system fractions from all over our body rush to put out the fire, so to speak. However, this is a case of fighting fire with fire. Cytokines are inflammatory. They kill viruses and bacteria by creating inflammation.

The cytokine storm is responsible for all of the symptoms we feel: fever, body aches, nausea, diarrhea, etc. It is also responsible for filling the lungs with mucous (pneumonia/pneumonitis) which is often the fatal trigger in influenza, SARS, Hanta virus, bubonic plague, etc.

To survive we must modulate the cytokine storm so that it does its job but doesn't overwork and kill us. We make it work smarter, not harder. So we don't use Vitamin C or Echinacea or anything that "boosts" the immune system. We use immune system modulators so we get exactly the right response. Quercetin (Betalains in Nopalea are quercetin bioflavonoids), green tea polyphenols (found in Energy Now!) and ginseng (Panax and Eleutherococcus found in Adaptogen 10 Plus) all help balance the body's immune system and decrease the cytokine storm.

Infection
Prior to the cytokine storm is the infection stage of influenza. The virus infects the cell by matching a cell receptor called Hemagglutinin. Hemagglutinin (the "H" in H1N1) allows the virus to gain entry to the cell and mutate the cell DNA so it can breed an infection. It also allows the newly mutated DNA to be incorporated into surrounding cells and through cell lines. Hemagglutinin describes "infection" with the flu. Two powerful natural bulwarks of Hemagglutinin are green tea polyphenols and ginseng (Panax and Eleutherococcus) found in Super Sublingual B-12.

Transmission
Neuraminidase describes "transmission" of the flu where the virus disarms the immune system with an enzyme. This is the "N" in H1N1, H5N1. Neuraminidase inhibitors like Tamiflu limit the ability of the virus to transmit its DNA strands. Two strong natural Neuraminidase protectors are green tea polyphenols and quercetin (Betalains in Nopalea are quercetin bioflavonoids). It is likely that green tea polyphenols and quercetin will help your body do what it does best: resist infection. Think of them as the first line of defense to arm your immune system and help protect against the flu virus from disarming it. *** End of Article ***

To me, preventative medicine makes more sense and if vitamin C, multiple vitamins, or Nopalea can do one-half of what has been scientifically proven, I believe many people will be protected from the flu, not to mention living healthier and more active lives.

The flu can be extremely dangerous to your health. However, I believe, like so many others, that inflammation may even be more dangerous, because it is related, or the leading cause of so many diseases. And if we can continue to fight inflammation by drinking a product like Nopalea, I believe we can all live longer and healthier lives.

In any case, 35,000-40,000 people in North America die of the flu each year.

Work at Home Freedom

Can a work at home business help you to become financially free? I guess that all depends on how you define "financially free." If you're thinking in terms of having enough money to pay your bills, I would say yes, a work at home business can help you attain that goal. On the other hand, if you're referring to doing what you want to do when you want to do it, I would also say yes, but with reservation.

Many people say they want to be financially free (do what they want when they want to do it), but never achieve that position in their life. Why? I believe that the majority of individuals do not know what it takes to make this goal become a reality, or it may not be a real goal, but rather a pipe dream.

"Freedom has often been stated as having the ability to do what you want, when you want; as long as it is truthful, honest, and does not violate the rights of others." That, according to my friend at the Help End Hunger Foundation, makes a strong point to the fact that freedom is as it means, that you are free to do whatever you would like to do. This is not a new concept nor is it rocket science. However, so many people find themselves in the same rat race year after year, even though they have said they wanted to be free. To me, it just doesn't make sense!

There are plenty of work at home businesses out there that offer the "freedom" yet not that many people reach that financial freedom plateau. Again, referring back to my original statement, either it's not a goal, or maybe they just don't know what it takes to succeed. Working from home takes dedication, hard work and discipline. It's so easy to get off track when working from home. The distractions can be plentiful. The comforts of your home can be a distraction in and of itself. But rather than the distractions, I believe it's the "hard work" aspect of a work at home business that discourages even the most disciplined entrepreneur.

When you're working for yourself you have to wear all the hats. You have to make all the decisions. You have to make the sales calls, and follow up with leads and/or interested clients. If you're selling a product, you may even have to be the delivery person. YIKES! How can one person do all those tasks and still find time for themselves? It may seem impossible, but there are ways to overcome it. One way is to form a team and delegate responsibilities.

Since the majority of home businesses are of the network marketing variety, teamwork should be a priority. After all aren't you part of a team (your network) to begin with? Shouldn't your upline help you with your business? Shouldn't your upline be looking out for your best interest? In a real network marketing business the answer should be a resounding yes. However, sad but true, many networkers are just looking out for number one, themselves. This may be the reason why so many work at home businesses collapse.

To become successful you first have to have a reason for doing the business (your WHY). You then have to take on the mentality of helping others, and putting them ahead of you. You have to find their reason for starting a work at home business and you have to remind them why they are doing this type of work, every step of the way. Helping others reach their goal should be your mission, and part of your every day practice. Remember, there is no "I" in team! If you're not helping others and leading your team by giving them daily responsibilities, you may be on the wrong path.

So, are you on the path to financial freedom? Are you financially free? If you have a home business and are not free or even on the path to financial freedom, you may have to take a step back and re-evaluate why. Are you being truthful, honest, and not violating the rights of others? You, and only you, know the answer to that question. A work at home business can give you the freedom, but the key to that freedom lies within.

TriVita Home Business

Many "Work at Home" entrepreneurs are faced with a seemingly very difficult uphill battle. Why? Because there are so many cut-throat competitors, along with increasing advertising costs, and the average customer/distributor retention rate that has dropped down to an average of less than 3 months.

To successfully generate a full-time income, or even a residual income, from home, through a network marketing business model in the Internet age, can be like trying to fill a bucket that is full of holes. Trying to find the "perfect" networker, the one that understands the business, can be like finding a needle in a haystack. Most distributors (I've heard around 90%) are spending way more money than they'll ever make. OUCH! I believe the reason this happens is because of the outrageous claims many network marketers make about making a six-figure income, in a very short period of time, and without doing any work.

As people join a home based business opportunity, one with those ridiculous promises, they’ll get fed up and quit. The ones that do stick it out for a slightly longer period do so because they realize they have spent their hard earned money and would like to get some sort of return on their investment. However, they typically wind up quitting anyway because they found that no one is building their work at home business for them. And it takes a lot more time and effort than they were initially told.

Building a successful work at home business does take time and it does take hard work. But, it can be very rewarding if you just stick with it. I remember reading this one quote when I first got started in my network marketing business; "Never Give Up!" There is a lot of wisdom in that statement. If I would have given up years ago, I probably would not be writing this article today. And I would probably be saying, "what if." However, today it's a little different, because now I can say, "What if... I would have quit?"

I don't know of any work at home professional that like the high attrition rate in this industry. That's why I have fond a way to combat it, with customers. You see customers are the life-blood of any business, not just one you work from home. Customers, people spending money on products or services, are the people that keep your business going in the long term, not independent reps, or distributors. Yes, I know there is an attrition factor with customers, but it's not has high as it is with work at home wannabe's (distributors).

So, it you're tired of dealing with downline attrition and small commission checks, you need to build a business based on a large customer base, NOT a large distributor base. There is one company that follows that business model, TriVita. Yes, TriVita is the only work at home business you will find on Google that is built on customers, not distributors. Our business building group at Its Good Business knows this first hand. We have several individuals that are working full-time from home. Why? Because they have a strong customer base, people who are buying TriVita products.

More and more work at home business owners are turning away from the traditional "MLM" business model, in favor of an increasingly popular "customer based" TriVita business. If you'd like to learn more about a TriVita home business, give me a call, or visit our "TriVita" web site.

Avoid Work at Home Scams

Real work from home business opportunities are in abundance. However, the Internet has become a breeding ground for get-rich-quick schemes. It seems to me that for every real job, there are hundreds of duds, and many may even be what some people refer to as scams. Don't become a victim of a scam. Do your due-diligence - research the company, and its principals, before joining any work at home business opportunity.

It's not hard to find a real work at home business opportunity, and it's even easier to see the difference between a real work at home business opportunity and a scam. For example, if some one is making outrageous income claims, chances are, it's a scam. If the opportunity they are promoting is based strictly around money, like pay $50 to join and you will get paid a 75% commission once you get three people to join, it's probably a scam. Real businesses sell products, and are typically product based, rather than strictly selling an opportunity. In the real business world you get paid commissions from products and/or services that are sold, NOT on the number of recruits you sign up. There is a good chance that if the company is paying you for recruiting it's probably a pyramid scheme, which is illegal.

Here is it what the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has to say on this subject:

"Multilevel or 'network' marketing plans are a way of selling goods or services through distributors. These plans typically promise that if you sign up as a distributor, you'll receive commissions—for your sales and those of the people you recruit to become distributors. These recruits sometimes are referred to as your 'downline.'"

"Some multilevel marketing plans are legitimate. However, others are illegal pyramid schemes. In pyramids, commissions are based on the number of distributors recruited. Most of the product sales are made to these distributors - not to consumers in general. The underlying goods and services, which vary from vitamins to car leases, serve only to make the schemes look legitimate."

"Joining a pyramid is risky because the vast majority of participants lose money to pay for the rewards of a lucky few. Most people end up with nothing to show for their money except the expensive products or marketing materials they're pressured to buy."

So, if you're looking for a real work at home business, do your research. The Internet has plenty of sites where you can find out if the company/opportunity is real. BUT, you have to do the research! DO NOT rely of what a person is telling you - do the research yourself.

Working from home can bring you some extra monthly income, or it can help you to become financially free. However, that is strictly up to you. You have to set your goals. You have to decide what you want to get out of your hard work. You have to make the decision. Nobody can make that decision for you. You have to check out the work at home opportunity, because people will try to sell you on their opportunity. And if you're like the majority of people, you probably do not like to be sold. If you find the perfect work from home opportunity for you, and the company is legit, have fun and work to make your dreams and goals become a reality.

Omega Prime by TriVita

I have been researching and writing articles about omega-3 essential fatty acids for some time now. Why? Because I have high cholesterol, and I wanted to find out if I could control it naturally by supplementing my diet with omega-3, and eating more foods high in essential fatty acids.

I was amazed at the information I found regarding omega-3 fatty acids, and their affects, not only on decreasing bad cholesterol and increasing god cholesterol, but also on fighting inflammation and improving heart health. It is no surprise that I have continued taking a daily supplement of omega-3 ever since.

Since we have a lot of fat (good and bad) in our bodies, we need to do something to make the good fat more effective. But, instead of me trying to explain the science behind good and bad fats, I'd rather have the Chief Science Officer of TriVita, Brazos Minshew, do the explaining. Below is his latest article from the TriVita Weekly Wellness Report

Good Fats, Bad Fats and OmegaPrime®

Almost every cell making up your body is surrounded by fat. Fats are very smart molecules. Good fats make your brain healthy, they make your heart healthy; they reduce inflammation and improve circulation. They improve your immune system and reduce pain.

Trans-fats are examples of "bad" fats. They have just the opposite effect of good fats: they make your brain, heart and immune system unhealthy. They increase pain and they are a toxic cause of inflammation.

Good fats are essential for life and good health.

The story of good fats
Our immune system relies on Vitamin D and fats. When we are exposed to infections, a "picture" of the invading microbe is encoded in immune cells and recorded in fat for long-term memory. This is the reason why we have lifelong resistance or immunity to certain infections once we have the illness (like chicken pox).

There is a family of conditions where the immune system works too hard. These disorders are called autoimmune conditions because a person's own immune system loses the ability to distinguish "self" from "non-self." In autoimmune conditions your own immune system attacks healthy tissue as if it were diseased! Every gland, organ and joint becomes a target of your immune system.

Essential fatty acids make your immune system work smarter, not harder. They code immune system proteins to precisely identify every cell and to determine an appropriate response.

OmegaPrime
TriVita OmegaPrime contains essential fatty acids (EFA) from four sources:

  • Omega-3: Fish oil
A key ingredient in OmegaPrime is fish oil. Omega-3 from fish oil is healthy for your body and it shows a special affinity for your heart and brain. Fish oil contains fully metabolized Omega-3 and is thus absorbed very quickly.
  • Omega-3: Flaxseed oil
Flaxseed oil is a vegetarian source of Omega-3. It is not fully broken down as fish oil is. Instead, it must be slowly metabolized over several hours. Think of fish oil as "fast-acting" and flaxseed oil as "sustained release."
  • Omega-3 & Omega-6: Perilla Seed oil
Humans cannot synthesize essential fatty acids: Omega-3 ALA (alpha linolenic acid) and Omega-6 LA (linoleic acid). We must get them from our diet and that is why they are called "essential." Perilla seeds contain a balance of Omega-3 ALA and Omega-6 LA.

There are nearly 500 articles in the Institutes of Health database on perilla. Scientists from all over the world are studying the oil of this amazing anti-inflammatory seed. Over 80 of these papers detail its use with the specific genes associated with various cancers. Over 50 articles discuss the anti-inflammatory benefits of perilla seed oil concerning allergy, asthma and other immune and cardiovascular disorders.
  • Omega-6: Evening Primrose oil
Evening Primrose oil (EPO) is a primary source of LA (linoleic acid) in OmegaPrime. LA goes through a long process of metabolism that results in intense anti-inflammatory activity. For example, LA helps reduce the inflammation associated with dermatitis. EPO promotes breast health and helps reduce breast pain. It also promotes cardiovascular health.  Evening Primrose oil is an excellent source of LA, and OmegaPrime is an excellent source of EPO.

Conclusion
Essential Fatty acids are ESSENTIAL to Wellness! We cannot make them; we must get them from our diet. The healthier our fat intake is, the healthier our body will become. People in North America are woefully deficient in healthy Omega EFAs. Eat healthy fats and reject unhealthy fats like trans-fats for a healthy heart, brain and immune system.

Since EFAs are necessary to keep our bodies healthy, we need to incorporate them into our diets. However, eating fish may be your best bet. The purest choice fish includes canned sardines or mackerel, wild Alaskan salmon and sablefish, and small, troll-caught tuna.

If you're not a fish eater, TriVita's Omega Prime is a supplement that gives you the needed omega-3 fatty acid to maintain a healthy omega-3 balance.

TriVita's OmegaPrime contains a premier and unique blend of four different types of the most highly regarded Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) oils – Fish, Flaxseed, Evening Primrose and Perilla Seed. It also uses only contaminant-free fish oil that has undergone a 10 stage distilling process.
