Weigth Loss

Desperate to lose weight

We all want to have a beautiful and healthy body; a slim body is all that we all love for. Every one who is desperate to lose weight is seeking fast weight loss tips that help them to lose their extra weight in a very short time. Well, there are simple and effective fast weight loss tips that can help in maintaining a healthy body. A combination of healthy diet, exercise and healthy life style is what goes with fast weight loss tips.

Choosing fast weight loss plan or a programme goes a long way in helping to lose weight fast. Always consult your physician, who can guide you through a fast weight loss plan.

Another factor with fast weight loss is really the diet that you eat. Include more fruits and vegetables in your diet, which can help in building up a healthy body. Remove from your diet foods that are rich in calories and cholesterol, which only add to the fat. Fries, burgers, cookies, candies should all be avoided as these come with high cholesterol and calories. Cola is also dangerous and instead drink a lot of water that helps in stimulating and flushing the body system.

Most of the people who are desperate to lose weight go after artificial methods like liposuction. But this is not a good practice to lose weight fast as they are harmful. There are some fast weight loss supplements that can do wonders. But always use them after consulting your physician.

Exercise must be included in one's daily routine as jogging, walking, cycling and swimming helps in burning the extra calories from the body. Obesity is also seen in people who have sleeping disorder. Researches have shown people who do not have enough sleep are prone to obesity.

Weight Loss

Desperate to lose weight

Green tea has always been known to have several health benefits, but few knew that it could contribute to weight loss as well and it is worth considering if you are desperate to lose weight.

A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition show that green tea extract can increase metabolism and fat oxidation of the body. In theory, scientists believe that the weight loss benefits of green tea extracts are due to their caffeine content but the results of the study show otherwise as they discovered that green tea extracts have weight loss benefits beyond that of caffeine.

In their study, the researchers administered alone the same amount of caffeine as that in green tea extracts but found that it did not make any significant changes in the body’s overall energy expenditure. This led them to conclude that green tea extracts have ingredients in them that actively interact with each other, promoting increased metabolism and fat oxidation that lead to weight loss.

Further findings indicated that a certain compound found in green tea extracts might be the ingredient that causes weight loss. These green tea extract compounds called Flavonoids may alter the way the body uses norepinephrine, a hormone that monitors how calories are burned. When flavonoids interact with other green tea extract ingredients, more calories are burned thus contributing to weight loss.

Another ingredient that actively contributes to the weight loss benefits of green tea extracts is the compound catechin polyphenols. These compounds also interact with other green tea extract ingredients in order to promote weight loss by fat burning and thermogenesis (a process of losing energy by daytime heat).

The great thing about the weight loss benefit of green tea extracts is that it does not have any adverse side-effects. Unlike other herbal products like ephedra and prescription drugs for obesity, green tea extract does not increase the speed of heart rates or raise blood pressure. In this regard, green tea extract is an effective and safer alternative to other weight loss products when you are desperate to lose weight as there are no harmful side effects

The study conducted by the University of Geneva on the weight loss benefit of green tea extract implicated that green tea extract can also help thyroid patients. According to dietitian Lynn Moss, M.S., R.D., green tea extract is a healthier choice for people with thyroid who may be too sensitive to stimulants. Green tea extract can promote weight loss by increasing metabolism without over stimulating the adrenal glands.

Weight Loss

Desperate to lose weight

The majority of successful weight maintainers don’t report highly restrictive diets and fad diets as factors they used to achieve permanent weight loss. Despite the fact that dietary change is the most commonly reported method to lose weight, the greatest predictors of permanent weight loss have more to do with regular exercise, changing behaviours, positive mind set, continuous self-assessment, and seeking outside support.

The take home message is that the majority of successful weight maintainers have been highly creative and persistent about finding and applying what works for them. You must learn constantly about what works for you and develop your own personal tricks and put them into action.

Commitment is the ultimate decider of permanent physical change. It takes commitment to stick to your new, healthy lifestyle. When you are committed, you will do anything to reach your goal, no matter how hard, tedious, boring, scary…you will do whatever it takes to get where you want to go.

  • Practice continuous self-monitoring with your Fitness Journal.
  • Make regular and frequent contacts with an outside source of support.
  • Include daily physical activity (resistance training and cardio) for at least 30-45 minutes, three to five days a week.
  • Make regular exercise a PRIORITY, a scheduled appointment, NOT an option.
  • Stay focused on improving health and energy, with fat loss being a nice accompaniment.
  • Set small daily/weekly goals
  • Replace fatty and sugary foods with more healthy substitutions like fruits, vegetables, whole-grains, and other high-fiber foods.
  • Frequently monitor portion sizes and hunger — this is important in today’s world of "super-size" restaurant portions.
  • Find ways to make fitness fun. For example, join a walking or hiking group, a soccer league, or take dance classes. Don’t fear trying new activities.
  • Eat at least 4-6 meals a day and do not skip meals.
  • Use Solution Discovery strategies when old behaviours return to haunt you. Make an effort to succeed at creating and re-assessing goals.
  • Recognize that it is a continuous, life-long journey to pursue better health, not a temporary "diet".
  • Never give up! Do not allow occasional slip-ups to end your progress.
  • Accept that the time-tested principles of weight loss, while not always exciting, are the only ones that work permanently.
  • Separate your body size from your self-worth. Recognize that your value is about a lot more than a number. When your attitude shifts to self-acceptance at any size, weight loss and maintaining it becomes more natural, and much easier.
  • Develop passions, interests, and hobbies to help you focus on things other than food.
  • Find and develop creative ways to manage stress effectively.
  • Ban the words "never" and "always" from your health vocabulary. That is, everything in moderation. It’s not realistic to say you’ll never eat ice cream again or that you will always exercise every day. In short, you must give up perfection, but remain focused without it.
  • Reflect daily. It takes many years to learn behaviours that lead to weight gain, yet it usually takes only a short time to lose weight. Therefore, you can expect that from time to time, destructive eating patterns will resurface. Seeking outside sources of support, developing interests, forgiving yourself, and reassessing goals greatly helps to conquer these times.

Weigth Loss Plan

Desperate to lose weight

There is a quick and easy answer. Follow the 250:250 weight loss rule. It so simple and cost you nothing to try.

Gaining weight is the result of a simple mathematical equation. The weight gain formula goes like this...

Weight = Caloric Intake - Caloric Burn

The 250:250 weight loss rule results in a calorie deficit and subsequent weight loss. Simply put, eat fewer calories and burn excess calories through exercise to experience lasting weight loss. Here's how it works...

  1. Eat 250 fewer calories per day
  2. Burn 250 an extra calories per day

Is that simple enough for you?

By following the two steps of the 250:250 weight loss rule, you will create a 500 calorie deficit each day. Multiple this by 7 days a week and the result is a 3500 calorie deficit per week. Why is a 3500 calorie deficit per week important?

A 3500 calorie deficit = 1 pound of weight loss! Yes, it's that simple. No major lifestyle change is required. Forget about unhealthy fad diets and simply follow the 2 steps of the 250:250 rule. Lose 1 pound a week, 4 pounds a month, and an amazing 48 pounds in one year without any significant change to your life.

so lets look at it again if you are desperate to lose weight.

Step 1: Eat 250 Fewer Calories a Day

Eating 250 fewer calories a day is easy. I suggest that you focus on eating fewer carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates from desserts, bread, and potatoes not only pile on the weight, but also lead to the metabolic syndrome. Carbohydrates are the primary cause of diabetes, heart disease, and cancers.

A gram of carbohydrates are equal to 4 calories. So by eliminating 65 grams of carbs, you can reach the goal of eating 250 fewer calories each day. When dinner time comes along, just skip the french fries or the garlic bread and you will complete step one.

Step 2: Burn 250 More Calories a Day

Can you walk briskly for an hour? If you answered yes, than you can easily complete step two of the 250:250 weight loss rule. Don't like walking? No problem. Swim a few laps, take dancing lessons, start aerobics, or climb stairs and you can easily complete step two.

Weight Loss

Desperate to lose weight

Healthy weight loss supplements can be a great boost to anyones vitamin and mineral levels and may be particularly inviting to those who have recently starting dieting and aren’t too sure of some of the pitfalls.

It is well worth remembering that too many vitamins can be just as bad as not getting enough. TriVita Supplements have an indication on the packaging on what constitutes as too many in a normal diet.

If you eat healthy food regularly and keep an eye on the ingredients, such as fresh fruit and vegetables, and don't forget that eating a variety of foods if essential for healthy weight loss. This is usually plenty enough to get all of the vitamins and minerals you need.

Healthy weight loss supplements do exist, and their is evidence to back up the claims that they help you to lose weight,

If you are think you need to take supplements please speak to a doctor first – some people do have a valid need to take certain vitamin groups such as ill, or elderly people or pregnant woman.

Weight loss

Desperate to lose weight

A few extra pounds helps you live longer, study finds Telegraph.co.UK - Carrying a few extra pounds may actually be good for you, according to a new study which found overweight people live longer than their more slender peers. While the obese or underweight are at greater risk of death, people marginally overweight have longer life spans than those considered to be of “healthy” weight, researchers claim.

The findings defy the commonly held belief that staying slim is the secret to healthy and long life. Scientists examined the relationship between body mass index and death among 11,326 adults in Canada over a 12-year period. They discovered that underweight people were 70 per cent more likely than people of normal weight to die, and extremely obese people were 36 per cent more likely to die. However, modestly overweight individuals were 17 per cent less likely to die, the study showed.

The relative risk for obese people was nearly the same as for people of normal weight, the report concluded. The research was conducted by experts at Statistics Canada, Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research, Portland State University, Oregon Health & Science University, and McGill University.

Commenting on the findings, David Feeny from the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research, said: "It’s not surprising that extreme underweight and extreme obesity increase the risk of dying. But it is surprising that carrying a little extra weight may give people a longevity advantage." However, the researchers also warned people of normal weight not to try to put on extra pounds in the hope of improving their health. "I would not interpret our results as suggesting that if you are normal you should gain weight and get into the overweight category," Mr Feeny said.

Fellow researcher Mark Kaplan, professor of Community Health at Portland State University, added: "Our study only looked at mortality, not at quality of life. There are many negative health consequences associated with obesity, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes."

The researches said carrying slightly more weight than normal may be beneficial in later life because it prevents people from becoming dangerously underweight when faced with health problems.

Sonoran Bloom

I'm a big proponent of preventative medicine rather than curative medicine. If some future medical problem can be prevented by doing something that you have control over, I'm all for it. That's why it's so important to eat a healthy diet, exercise, and take a high quality daily nutritional supplement. Protecting our cells and the systems that protect us, in my estimation, is critical. One such system is the immune system.

In a report from Brazos Minshew, TriVita's Chief Science Officer, he says that "our immune system uses heat to destroy invading bacteria. A specialized cell called a macrophage douses the invader with inflammatory enzymes (like acids) and the heat generated in this battle destroys the invading bacteria."

"Sometimes our own healthy cells become the focus for disease. This often happens because of toxic exposure. When we eat, drink or breathe a toxin, or if it is absorbed through our skin, our detoxification system works to remove it before the poison can compromise our health. Unfortunately, many of today's poisons are simply too strong and they overwhelm our detoxification system and enter healthy cells. These cells now become the target of disease, infection and inflammation. Our immune system must treat them as hostile and use heat to destroy them."

"Autoimmune diseases arise when our immune system becomes so overworked that it can no longer tell the difference between healthy cells and sick cells. It attacks all cells of a particular type equally. This body system is never able to heal and chronic inflammation sets in." [1]

After further review of the immune system, autoimmune disorders, and inflammation, I've found this information on the Medline Plus web site, a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

An autoimmune disorder is a condition that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys healthy body tissue. There are more than 80 different types of autoimmune disorders.

Normally the immune system's army of white blood cells helps protect the body from harmful substances, called antigens. Examples of antigens include bacteria, viruses, toxins, cancer cells, and foreign blood or tissues from another person or species. The immune system produces antibodies that destroy these harmful substances.

But in patients with an autoimmune disorder, the immune system can't tell the difference between healthy body tissue and antigens. The result is an immune response that destroys normal body tissues. The response is a hypersensitivity reaction similar to allergies, where the immune system reacts to a substance that it normally would ignore. In allergies, the immune system reacts to an external substance that would normally be harmless. With autoimmune disorders, the immune system reacts to normal body tissues.

What causes the immune system to no longer distinguish between healthy body tissues and antigens is unknown. One theory holds that various microorganisms and drugs may trigger some of these changes, particularly in persons who are genetically prone to autoimmune disorders.[2]

Minchew explains more about toxins and there affects on the immune system.

"When a toxin overwhelms your detoxification process it will likely settle in your weakest system. The immune system melts these polluted cells in an effort to save healthy cells. This is acute inflammation. With chronic toxicity comes the opportunity for chronic inflammation. In the case of chronic inflammation, the immune system attacks any sick cell as well as any healthy cell that looks like the sick one. If the immune system attacks connective tissue we say a person has lupus. If it attacks the beta cells of the pancreas we say they have type 1 diabetes. If it attacks the joints we say they have rheumatoid arthritis.

How do we treat an autoimmune disorder? Medical professionals basically determine the proper procedure.  However, Minchew says that "we simply must reduce our toxic exposure to reduce the chances of developing an autoimmune disorder. And we must also develop emotional coping strategies and have all of the nutrients we need in our body in the right quantity - every moment of every day."

On the medical side of the equation, and according to the Medicine Plus web site, treatments can be as simple as using supplements, or as drastic as blood transfusions.

The goals of treatment are to reduce symptoms and control the autoimmune process while maintaining the body's ability to fight disease. Treatments vary widely and depend on the specific disease and your symptoms.

Some patients may need supplements to replenish a hormone or vitamin that the body is lacking. Examples include thyroid supplements, vitamins, or insulin injections.

If the autoimmune disorder affects the blood, the person may need blood transfusions.

Measures to help with movement or other functions may be needed for autoimmune disorders that affect the bones, joints, or muscles.

Medicines are often prescribed to control or reduce the immune system's response. Such medicines may include corticosteroids and immunosuppressant drugs such as cyclophosphamide or azathioprine.[2]

I don't know about you, but if we can prevent our bodies from contracting this disorder, I'm all for it. With that said, and something (prevention) I believe in, I'd rather follow Mr. Minchew's advice. "We simply must reduce our toxic exposure to reduce the chances of developing an autoimmune disorder. And we must also develop emotional coping strategies and have all of the nutrients we need in our body in the right quantity - every moment of every day."

To me, that sounds like a better option, to "have all of the nutrients we need in our body in the right quantity - every moment of every day."

One way to do get a the nutrients our bodies need is to take a high quality daily nutritional supplement, and drink TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea® on a daily basis. Combining these two products work wonders to keep your body in top physical shape, right down to the cellular level. Start on the road to preventing unwanted diseases today. Your body will thank you in the future.

Omega Prime

TriVita™ is dedicated to helping people pursue healthy living. A trusted health solutions provider since 1999, they develop nutritional products and offer health and wellness services that support the whole person - physically, emotionally and spiritually.

The Weekly Wellness Report by Brazos Minshew, TriVita's Brazos Minshew, is chalk full of health information, from preventative medicine to one of the biggest killers, heart disease.

"Around 700,000 people in North America die from heart attacks each year. The most common cause of heart attacks is a blood clot caused by coronary artery disease (CAD). Yet, as bad as CAD is, heart attacks from narrow arteries and blood clots are not the only conditions that cause heart disease. Many heart diseases exist and are preventable with just a little care"

According to the eMedTV web site, "coronary artery disease is the most common type of heart disease. About 13 million people in the United States have coronary artery disease. It is the number one killer of both men and women. Based on 2003 data, 685,089 people died from coronary artery disease. Coronary artery disease and stroke (another cardiovascular disease) account for nearly 40 percent of all deaths."[1]

The most common cause of heart disease in North America is high blood pressure; it affects 73 million people in the U.S. alone. High blood pressure may be caused by:

  • Disease in the blood vessels that cause them to narrow
  • Imbalances in the kidneys, lungs and liver
  • Cardiomyopathy - a disease of the heart muscle

The Brazos Minshew of TriVita, Brazos Minshew, says that "some people can reduce their high blood pressure simply by practicing deep breathing. Other techniques include increasing fruits and vegetables, and increasing fiber and water while reducing sodium."

"Coronary artery disease (CAD) occurs when plaque builds up inside a blood vessel of the heart. CAD affects over 16 million people in the U.S. It leads to angina pectoris - pain caused by poor blood flow to the heart muscles - and is associated with heart attack."

"Coronary artery disease responds well to a low-fat, high-fiber diet of mainly fruits and vegetables. Stress reduction and daily exercise are also effective therapies in combating CAD. Almost all heart specialists recommend Omega-3 oils, such as those found in TriVita's Omega Prime, as effective tools in combating CAD."

"Omega Prime can help reduce the 'stickiness' of blood to protect against clots and may slow down the process of plaque formation. One or two grams are enough to help protect against heart disease, but much more is needed if the heart is already diseased."[2]

Many studies suggest that our bodies have a daily need for Essential Fatty Acids. Research has proven that these EFAs play a key role in helping us to sustain vibrant good health. EFAs nourish the body's heart, brain, skin, glands and joints - and are critical to the hormone production process.

But there is a problem, as research has discovered, our bodies cannot make the EFAs internally. So these critical fats must come from outside sources. And that's where Omega Prime comes into play.

OmegaPrime's EFAs support our wellness in so many ways, starting with helping to reduce runaway inflammation. Many of us don't realize this, but runaway inflammation can lead to various serious health problems in the body involving the heart, arteries, lungs, joints and more.

Plus Omega Prime helps meet the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. One daily dose of Omega Prime provides the amount of Omega-3 recommended by the AHA for healthy individuals, as well as for those who have heart disease or the risk of it.

You can find additional information on Omega Prime and all of the TriVita nutritional products by going to http://trivitaproduct.info. Weight Loss

Desperate to lose weight

Although there are an ever-growing number of diet books, plans and groups, many people just want to achieve weight loss by sensible healthy eating, rather than following a particular fad or fashion. But where to start your weight loss program? Well, the most basic and probably one of the best guides that you have, is your own common sense.

Most dieters these days have already amassed enough information about what is and isn’t good for weight loss, to be able to decide whether or not a particular food is healthy, or is likely to help, hinder or otherwise affect their diet.

Very often it all comes down to a matter of balance. You know that there are certain things that, unless you have particular medical problems, are generally thought to be good foods that can help you to be healthier and lose those extra pounds.

Most dieticians would agree that eating good portions of fresh fruit and vegetables every day is going to be good for you. Also unless you are on a low carb weight loss diet whole grain foods such as pasta, whole grain bread and rice are usually accepted as being beneficial, both generally and for weight loss.

These days drinking is also very much in focus for those who wish to achieve both weight loss and a benefit to their health. It is generally thought that too much alcohol is not a good and may bring about a variety of health problems, although small amounts may not be a bad thing.

Water, especially spring water, is thought by many nutritionists to be very beneficial to the health and there are some who say that it can also be helpful to those who are concerned about weight loss. Some encourage drinking water before meals as this can take the edge from the hunger and will let the dieter have smaller meals without feeling as though they haven’t had enough.

Lean meat and fish and also the occasional portion of oily fish such as salmon, are another group of foods that are usually thought to be beneficial to weight loss and general health. And also seeds, pulses and many dieticians recommend nuts as being beneficial.

There are, of course, many foods that are not generally recommended by dieticians as be effective for weight loss, such as refined sugar products and many fried and especially deep fried foods, such as French Fries. Although a certain amount of olive oil is recommended by many health professionals.

It is of course not just the food that you eat, but the way that you eat it that is thought to have an effect both on your health and your weight loss. Many people skip breakfast but many health professionals believe that this is not a good way, to either start the day, or to achieve any kind of weight loss benefit.

Generally it is a matter of good sense and a reasonable knowledge of what foods are good and should be eaten daily and what are not so good and should be eaten only occasionally. Despite having the ability to work out their own diet many still buy the many diet books that are on offer to have a specific plan to work to.

Some find that it helps to have it written down so that they know whether to eat a particular food or not. But if you want to there is no reason why you should not be able to decide on a good diet and healthy weight loss plan, although it is always a good idea to check with your doctor before you start a new diet.

Weight loss

Desperate to lose weight

So are you obese and everyone is making fun of you behind your back instead of giving you weight loss tips? Or is it that because of your obesity you are suffering from disorders like high blood pressure, diabetes, gout problems and gall bladder problems. If this is the case then you need a few weight loss tips. The following weight loss tips will help you a lot in following a direction in losing your weight.

The first and the foremost weight loss tip is that you should be immensely motivated to lose weight. Do not believe in people who promise to give you weight loss tips that’ll help you to lose enormous weights in a matter of a few days. I can promise you that these weight loss tips will do no more than harm your body. Remember, losing weight is a mind game where many people have bogged down in a few weeks because they did not follow the weight loss tips properly or were given incorrect weight loss tips. Also it is necessary to set realistic goals once you have the weight loss tips. Goals that you can achieve successfully. Many people starve themselves in order to lose quickly. But starving oneself can do more harm as you tend to gain weight quickly afterwards.

A perfect combination of diet and exercise is one of the best weight loss tips that you can ever give someone. Another weight loss tip is that you should avoid fatty, high sugar and oily foods at all costs. This is because these types of foods are the main culprits in building up fat in your body which becomes difficult to burn later. Do eat more of raw vegetables, fresh fruits and salads that are low in fat but high in nutrition value is one of the other most common and easy to follow weight loss tip. Also avoid alcohol and fruit juices high in sugar at all costs. In case of best weight loss tips regarding exercises one should start with light cardiovascular exercises lie stationary cycle, walking and running and then move on to heavier exercises like weight training and weight lifting. Exercising builds up your body’s metabolism and helps to keep your body in shape. Exercise also helps you to burn the fat in your body and improves the body’s resistance to diseases.

Another best weight loss tip that I can think of is that you should follow a particular weight loss program recommended by your dietician. A weight loss program mentions what you should have everyday in the week and provides you with weekly weight loss tips. The weight loss program should be repeated at the beginning of another week. Your dietician might include a set of exercises to be done by you everyday in the weight loss program.

Minchew explains more about toxins and their affects on the immune system.

Medical professionals basically determine the proper procedure, however, Minchew says that "we simply must reduce our toxic exposure to reduce the chances of developing an autoimmune disorder. And we must also develop emotional coping strategies and have all of the nutrients we need in our body in the right quantity - every moment of every day."

On the medical side of the equation, and according to the Medicine Plus web site, treatments can be as simple as using supplements, or as drastic as blood transfusion.

Omega Prime

Omega-3 fatty acids found in fatty fish such as tuna and salmon may protect against progression of age-related macular degeneration, but the benefits appear to depend on the stage of disease and whether certain supplements are taken, researchers say.

Age-related macular degeneration is a chronic eye disease marked by deterioration of tissue in the part of your eye that's responsible for central vision. The deterioration occurs in the macula (MAK-u-luh), which is in the center of the retina — the layer of tissue on the inside back wall of your eyeball.

Macular degeneration doesn't cause total blindness, but it worsens your quality of life by blurring or causing a blind spot in your central vision. Clear central vision is necessary for reading, driving, recognizing faces and doing detail work.[1]

The researchers calculated intakes of docosahexaenoic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid from dietary questionnaires administered to 2,924 men and women, ages 55 to 80, participating in an eight-year supplement trial, the Age-Related Eye Disease Study of the National Eye Institute. [2]

The trial results suggest taking supplements of antioxidants plus zinc prevents progression of late-stage AMD. [2]

The results, which are published online ahead of print in the British Journal of Ophthalmology, are in a report from researchers at the Laboratory for Nutrition and Vision Research, and Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University.

Eating two to three servings of fatty fish such as salmon, tuna, mackerel, shellfish, and herring every week would achieve the recommended daily intake of docosahexaenoic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid.

However, the majority of the study participants participants and Americans eat a much lower level than recommended.

":If changing dietary habits is not easy, supplementation is an option," says corresponding author Chung-Jung Chiu.

As a matter of fact, the American Heart Association (AHA) also recommends eating fish, high in omega-3 fatty acids, at least 2 times a week. However, it's advised that pregnant women, nursing mothers, young children, and women who might become pregnant not eat several types of fish, including swordfish, shark, and king mackerel. These individuals should also limit consumption of other fish, including albacore tuna, salmon, and herring. They can take omega-3 fatty acids in quality dietary supplements that are certified mercury-free by a reputable third-party lab, like TriVita's Omega Prime.

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential to human health but cannot be manufactured by the body. For this reason, omega-3 fatty acids must be obtained from food or through supplementation. One daily dose of Omega Prime provides the amount of Omega-3 recommended by the AHA for healthy individuals, as well as for those who have heart disease or the risk of it.

The AHA has already proven that omega-3 fatty acids is important to a healthy heart, but now, it seems that there is some evidence to back up the the facts that omega-3 fatty acids also help people suffering from age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Prevention may be your best medicine. With all the great supplements on the market, it doesn't make sense for anyone to suffer for diseases that can be prevented. Sonoran Bloom

Sonoran Bloom

"After 13 years my husband finally found some relief."

"My husband has a dreaded, said-to-be incurable auto-immune disease, called Neurosarcoidosis; yet we have some outstanding news due to this wonderful nutraceutical breakthrough! We felt energized to write this testimony and share. I can honestly say that after watching my husband suffer through thirteen years of headaches, joint, back, rib, muscle, feet, leg and arm pain, it was a tremendous relief for me to see his pain be relieved. When taking Nopalea he has mostly pain-free days. Finally after 13 years we have found a natural product, not some other poisonous pharmaceutical. The Nopalea relieves his pain day after day with no side effects, and with no threat of damaging other organs of his body.

My husband was very sceptical as he had tried several types of prescribed medications to attempt to eliminate the disease itself or the symptoms and pain cause by Neurosarcoidosis. Not much worked.

It took some strong arming to convince my husband to try Nopalea as he had already attempted acupuncture, homeopathic products and a multitude of vitamins and supplements with no relief. In fact, when the Nopalea arrived he set it on the counter for one week and would not open the box. His fear was that it would not work and he would be greatly disappointed all over again.

We prayed about it and he finally decided to try it. Much to his surprise, it worked within a couple of hours – his pain started to diminish! He could not believe it; he thought his mind was playing tricks on him. Now, he can't stop telling everyone about it. This is a real praise for us, God does answer prayer; sometimes not in the time frame or way we expect Him too." Sheryl C. – Placerville , CA.

Raw Food Diet

Desperate to lose weight

Eating raw foods is natural. Our bodies thrive on all that is fresh and vital. A raw food diet (or increasing the amount of raw food that you eat) is bound to bring a feeling of increased wellbeing.

Raw food diets are based on unprocessed and uncooked plant foods, preferably organic, such as a variety of fresh fruits and veggies, nuts, seeds, grains, dried fruit, fresh juices and purified water.

Why Raw Foods?

Basically a vegetarian diet, the raw food diet promotes eating and drinking ‘living’ foods. Living foods and juices contain the maximum amount of fibre found in raw produce, fibre that can be lost in processing. Such foods are easily metabolised and tend to be lower in calories than the average diet.

Heating food above 116F destroys enzymes in food that aid in digestion and in absorption of food, diminishing its nutritional value.

Benefits of a Raw Food Diet

A diet of at least 75% raw food offers numerous health benefits, such as increased energy, improved skin appearance, better digestion, weight loss and reduced risk of serious illnesses like heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

A raw food diet contains little or no saturated fats, is low in sodium, high in potassium, magnesium, folate and fibre. Raw food diets are also excellent detoxifying diets. Different combinations of raw, living foods and juices can be used for colon cleansing, liver cleansing, kidney cleansing and skin cleansing.

The Basics of a Raw Food Diet

Any fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, beans, nuts, legumes, young coconut milk – even seaweed – can be menu items of a raw food diet. Your choice of foods may depend on your reasons for dieting, for example:

– sprouted brown rice slows glucose absorption and improves the metabolism – cabbage supports healthy cellular function; radish leaves act as an anti-oxidant, as does Shitake mushroom

-carrots are a great source of vitamin A as well as encouraging healthy vision and a healthy cardio-vascular system

You can use a sprouter such as the Easy Green automatic sprouter to sprout seeds, grains, beans – even wheatgrass. Sprouts could be called a ’super food’ – organic sprouts contain enormous levels of proteins, vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, chlorophyll pigments and enzymes, and are the ideal natural supplement.

Sprouts can be used in salads and soups, or can be juiced. Fresh juices are a great ready energy supply and a good quality juicer, such as the Kempo Greenpower juicer, produces living juices that are full of essential nutrients. A great juicing recipe to complement a raw food diet is carrot juice with potato, fennel and apple. Simply juice 4 medium carrots, 2 apples, 1 small potato and 1 small stalk of fennel. Fennel has been shown to reduce and control inflammation of arthritis, it evens mood fluctuation and depressive states and has the rare nutrient called manganese, plus zinc and vitamin B complex. The nutritional value of grains and seeds is impressive. They contain most of the vitamins – particularly A, B, and E. They’re also fantastic natural sources of unsaturated fatty acids and lecithin, and an excellent source of proteins.

You can even use soy milk makers (such as SoyQuick) to make non-dairy drinks from different beans, rice, nuts, seeds and grains to have with breakfast. If you want something a little more substantial than soy milk you can make your tofu (or, of course, visit a good health food shop).

Essentially, the idea of a raw food diet is to eat unprocessed foods for at least 75% of the time. If the idea of raw food isn’t very appetising to you, you can warm the food a little as long as the food isn’t heated above 116F.

Weight Loss

Desperate to lose weight

Nowadays more and more people are suffering from weight problems. How to achieve a health weight becomes a fashionable topic. While there are so many weight loss tips, it may be difficult to tell good ones from the nonsense. Everyone is looking for the easy way out. Usually there are three main ways to lose weight and keep fit, involving proper diet, good weight loss products and exercising.

Just as a car needs fuel to run, it is very important to provide our body with energy. A proper diet will contribute to health weight. Weight loss will only occur if you burn more than you consume. It means stop taking in fast food, cut back on alcohol, eat fruits and vegetables and avoid candy, cakes, cookies and other crap.

Due to the weight problems, a lot of weight loss products are being developed. The use of the products can help people decrease appetite and the absorption of fat. There are many types of weight loss products in the market, such as bars, pills and patches .However, some are safe to use and others are not. People usually go for natural weight loss products, which have full refund guarantee and stay away from counterfeit diet pills. Even so, weight loss products are not the best way to keep fit. They provide people with short term weight loss. In many cases, people regain the weight they had lost and sometimes even more after they stop to take weight loss products.

Aside from the best diet pills, exercise can be very physically rewarding. It can help lose weight and attain your dreams. Running is not only excellent exercise, it is an efficient way to burn calories and lose weight. You may hear other exercise like walking and jogging for fat burning, but running is right at the top as a weight-loss exercise. It is proved that a 150-pound person will burn 100 calories while running.

In a word, adopting a health life is the most important thing when you want to lose weight and keep fit. If you find it difficult to achieve the goal of loosing one large quantity of weight, you can break it down into smaller daily goals and then your dream will finally come true.

Can Vegetarian Benefit from B12

New DocumentCan Vegetarian Benefit from B12

The popularity of vegetarian diets has risen along with an interest in avoiding meat and meat products for environmental, philosophical, and health reasons. However, the term vegetarianism is subject to a wide range of interpretations. Some people consider themselves to be vegetarian when they avoid red meat.

Others believe that vegetarianism requires avoidance of all products that come from animals, including meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy foods. The most commonly described forms of vegetarianism include: "lacto-ovo vegetarians", who avoid products that come from meat, poultry, and fish but consume eggs and dairy foods; "strict vegetarians", who avoid meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy foods; and "vegans", who avoid meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy foods and also do not use products that come from animals such as honey, leather, fur, silk, and wool.

Strict vegetarians and vegans are at greater risk of developing vitamin B12 deficiency than lacto-ovo vegetarians and nonvegetarians because natural food sources of vitamin B12 are limited to foods that come from animals.

Fortified cereals are one of the few sources of vitamin B12 from plants, and are an important dietary source of vitamin B12 for strict vegetarians and vegans. Strict vegetarians and vegans who do not consume foods that come from plants that are fortified with vitamin B12 need to consider taking a dietary supplement that contains vitamin B12 and should discuss the need for vitamin B12 supplements with their physician.

It is widely believed that vitamin B12 can be consistently obtained from nutritional yeasts. Consumers should be aware that these products may or may not contain added nutrients such as vitamin B12. Dietary supplements are regulated as foods rather than drugs, and companies that sell supplements such as nutritional yeasts fortified with vitamin B12 can legally change their formulation at any time. If you choose to supplement, select reliable sources of vitamin B12 and read product labels carefully.

When adults adopt a strict vegetarian diet, deficiency symptoms can be slow to appear. It may take years to deplete normal body stores of vitamin B12. However, breast-fed infants of women who follow strict vegetarian diets have very limited reserves of vitamin B12 and can develop a vitamin B12 deficiency within months.

This is of particular concern because undetected and untreated vitamin B12 deficiency in infants can result in permanent neurologic damage. Consequences of such neurologic damage are severe and can be irreversible. There are many case reports in the literature of infants and children who suffered consequences of vitamin B12 deficiency. It is very important for mothers who follow a strict vegetarian diet to consult with a pediatrician regarding appropriate use of vitamin B12 supplements for their infants and children.

Vitamin B12 Deficiency and Dementia

Researchers have long been interested in the potential connection between vitamin B12 deficiency and dementia. A recent review examined correlations between cognitive skills, homocysteine levels, and blood levels of folate, vitamin B12 and vitamin B6.

The authors suggested that vitamin B12 deficiency may decrease levels of substances needed for the metabolism of neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are chemicals that transmit nerve signals. Reduced levels of neurotransmitters may result in cognitive impairment.

In 142 individuals considered at risk for dementia, researchers found that a daily supplement providing 2 milligrams (mg) folic acid and 1 mg vitamin B12, taken for 12 weeks, lowered homocysteine levels by 30%. They also demonstrated that cognitive impairment was significantly associated with elevated plasma total homocysteine. However, the decrease in homocysteine levels seen with the use of vitamin supplements did not improve cognition. It is too soon to make any recommendations, but is an intriguing area of research.

Folic Acid And Vitamin B12 Deficiency

Folic acid can correct the anemia that is caused by vitamin B12 deficiency. Unfortunately, folic acid will not correct the nerve damage also caused by vitamin B12 deficiency. Permanent nerve damage can occur if vitamin B12 deficiency is not treated. Folic acid intake from food and supplements should not exceed 1,000 µg daily in healthy individuals because large amounts of folic acid can trigger the damaging effects of vitamin B12 deficiency. Adults older than 50 years who take a folic acid supplement should ask their physician or qualified health care provider about their need for additional vitamin B12.

What is the relationship between vitamin B12 homocysteine, and cardiovascular disease?

Cardiovascular disease involves any disorder of the heart and blood vessels that make up the cardiovascular system. Coronary heart disease occurs when blood vessels which supply the heart become clogged or blocked, increasing the risk of a heart attack. Vascular damage can also occur to blood vessels supplying the brain, and can result in a stroke.

Cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death in industrialized countries such as the United States, and is on the rise in developing countries. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health has identified many risk factors for cardiovascular disease, including an elevated LDL-cholesterol level, high blood pressure, a low HDL-cholesterol level, obesity, and diabetes. In recent years, researchers have identified another risk factor for cardiovascular disease: an elevated homocysteine level.

Homocysteine is an amino acid normally found in blood, but elevated levels have been linked with coronary heart disease and stroke. Elevated homocysteine levels may impair endothelial vasomotor function, which determines how easily blood flows through blood vessels. High levels of homocysteine also may damage coronary arteries and make it easier for blood clotting cells called platelets to clump together and form a clot, which may lead to a heart attack.

Vitamin B12, folate, and vitamin B6 are involved in homocysteine metabolism. In fact, a deficiency of vitamin B12 ,folate, or vitamin B6 may increase blood levels of homocysteine. Recent studies found that vitamin B12 and folic acid supplements decreased homocysteine levels in subjects with vascular disease and in young adult women. The most significant drop in homocysteine level was seen when folic acid was taken alone. A significant decrease in homocysteine levels also occurred in older men and women who took a multivitamin/ multimineral supplement for 8 weeks. The supplement taken provided 100% of Daily Values (DVs) for nutrients in the supplement.

Evidence supports a role for folic acid and vitamin B12 supplements for lowering homocysteine levels, however this does not mean that these supplements will decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease. Clinical intervention trials are underway to determine whether folic acid, vitamin B12, and vitamin B6 supplements can lower risk of coronary heart disease. It is premature to recommend vitamin B12 supplements for the prevention of heart disease until results of ongoing randomized clinical trials positively link increased vitamin B12 intake from supplements with decreased homocysteine levels AND decreased risk of cardiovascular disease.

Benefits of B12 and Those Senior Moments

New DocumentBenefits of B12 For Those Senior Moments

B12 is the key to reclaiming your mental energy.

Brain erosion can start as early as age 30.
Most everyone has “senior moments.” You’ll be talking with someone and suddenly you can’t remember your best friend’s name or the movie you saw last night. These are fairly commonplace occurrences for people as they age and nothing to worry about as long as they don’t happen very often.

However, if your age is creeping up to 40, 50 or 60 then you have reason to be concerned if:

• Your memory is starting to slip
• Your agility, coordination and balance may be off
• It’s harder for you to focus and concentrate
• Your attention span is shorter
• Your concentration is scattered
• It’s more difficult for you to start or sustain a conversation
• Your handwriting is becoming sloppy or illegible
• You are starting to wonder whether you are getting dementia.

If one or more of these is happening to you, it could be the result of brain erosion. Brain erosion means that the brain actually erodes or shrinks. Can the brain really shrink? Yes it can! The human brain may lose from 10 to 25 percent of its total volume due to the effects of stress.

That’s scary enough, but now brain erosion is happening to people at a much younger age than in the past. Statistics from the 1970s and 1980s found brain erosion only in people over 50. However, a major study conducted by Washington University (St. Louis, Missouri) detected brain volume loss as early as age 30. Researchers also discovered that this brain volume loss often leads to dementia.*

There is a "miracle" that can help your memory as you age!

The miracle is vitamin B12, a common vitamin found in everyday foods and multivitamins that you may already be taking. B12 is extremely vital in brain and nerve function—playing an integral part in memory. However, according to medical science, as you age, your body's ability to absorb vitamin B12 through food and pills decreases. In fact, many adults may be unable to absorb vitamin B at all and have to receive expensive B12 shots each month!

Now there is something that works like a B12 shot —

without the expense and pain of an injection! People have experienced amazing B12 benefits from these shots over the years. But now, there is something more convenient than a B12 shot . Dr. Libby's original, patented Sublingual B12, B-6 & Folic Acid from TriVita gives you all the benefits of B12 you need—so you avoid the pain and expense of an injection.

Celiac Disease

Desperate to lose weight

Poor nutrition is a concern that affects many people, but did you know that as many as 1 in every 133 Americans (or 2 million in the continental United States) suffer from a special kind of nutritional disorder called celiac disease that can lead to a variety of other health problems?

Once thought to be a disease that affected only a rare few is now known to be much more common. And while that does not bode well for those that suffer from its effects, it has led to a greater understanding of celiac disease that is aiding (and will continue to do so) the treatment effort.

What Is Celiac Disease?

For those who have never heard of celiac disease, here is how it works: quite simply, celiac disease is a disorder of the digestive system that inflicts damage to the small intestine and prevents proper absorption of nutrients. People afflicted have a particularly difficult time digesting gluten, which is a protein in wheat, rye, and barley. More specifically, celiac disease damages the villi, or protrusions of the small intestine lining that aid in absorption. As a result, no matter how much an individual eats, he or she will remain malnourished.

What Triggers Celiac Disease?

While celiac disease is a genetic disorder, certain factors can trigger it. You can expect celiac disease to become active, if it runs in the family and is not immediately noticeable, after events such as surgery, infection, stress, pregnancy, or childbirth.

Children and adults can exhibit symptoms of the disease differently. In children, signs such as these could raise the flag:

  • Chronic diarrhoea
  • Vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Excessive weight loss
  • Abdominal bloating
  • Abnormalities in stool, such as fattiness, unusually foul odours, or discoloration

Adults may exhibit some of these signs, though it is far less common. Usually, celiac disease manifests itself in one or more of the following ways:

  • Fatigue
  • Arthritis
  • Depression or anxiety
  • Seizures
  • Sores inside of mouth
  • Skin rashes
  • Numbness of the feet and hands
  • Osteoporosis
  • Pain in bones or joints
  • Unexplained iron deficiencies in blood (or anaemia)

Keep in mind these symptoms are not automatic indicators you carry the disease. Awareness of family medical history is extremely helpful, and consultation with your doctor is essential. It is important for you to realize that celiac disease does not have to rule your life. There are treatments available, but you must take advantage of them. Oftentimes, a gluten-free diet helps you to live a normal life, free of the long-term effects, such as type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and auto immune thyroid and liver diseases.

But it is just as important for you to realize that celiac disease is a condition, which can lead to more harmful long-term effects. By knowing the limits of your body, and the proper nutritional information for how to deal with celiac disease, you place yourself at less risk.

SEO and Back Links

You've gone through all the hard work of creating a great looking web site, so what's next? It's not like some brand new great looking corner pub - where you build it and customers will show up. If that's your thinking, you better change your mindset.

The Internet is so large and is growing every single day. With the ever-growing number of web sites, it's almost impossible for someone to find your site, just because you have a domain (your presence on the web). You must understand that your just one small web site among the masses. How on earth will anybody ever find you? Is it possible to make your site visible?

Site visibility does not just happen! You need your site to become visible when someone searches for whatever you have to offer. The best way to become visible to people is to become visible to search engines, sometimes that's easier said than done. However, there are several different search engine optimization (SEO) techniques you can use to become visible.

Over the years, SEO has changed. Some techniques that worked in the 1990's do not work today, yet some SEO techniques have become more and more popular over the years. On such technique is back linking, other sites that point to your web site. Back links are a major factor in determining your site's popularity or ranking with the search engines, like Google, MSN, and Yahoo!. And in the eyes of the search engines, site popularity pays big dividends.

Here's a quote I found at ezilon.com while searching the Internet:

"To search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN, when someone links to your site it's like they are voting for it. Someone thought your content was valuable enough to link to, so it must be important. The more people linking to your site, the more important it must be."

That's exactly what back links do for your web site, they're saying it has value. It's like they're telling Google, "I really like this site and I think it's an important site, so you should give it a better ranking." OK, that's not really what's happening, but it sounds good and makes sense.

Back links play a huge role in the ranking of your web sites. However, what's even more important than the number of links pointing to your site is the anchor text. Anchor text is the visible, clickable text of a link. For example, the following phrase is anchor text: search engine optimization.

On the web page, the anchor text is what readers actually see.

Search engines see anchor text too, and they use it as a way of determining what your site is all about. This is why you want anchor text of incoming links to include your main keywords whenever possible. I haven't mentioned anything about keywords up to this pint, but it's very important that you understand something about them.

I mentioned that your site needs to become visible when someone searches for whatever you have to offer. More than likely, your site was built to sell an item, offer a service, or promote a program. Whatever it is you have to offer, you need to convey your site's message in a single word, or phrase. That's the "keyword" for your web site. That keyword is what someone is going to type in when they go to Google, MSN, or Yahoo!.

Now that you understand the importance of both back links and anchor tags, let's look at a few ways that you can get back links to your web site.

One way to get natural links back to your web site is by setting up a blog for your company. Make sure you network online with other blogs that complement yours. If you share industry news and have useful and relevant content, you'll attract links. Reference other bloggers in your content and link to other blogs in your industry.

When it comes to blogs, content is king. Make sure you use your chosen keyword throughout your post. Make sure your content reflect your company or your web site. Your content could be the page that carries your web site around the Internet world. Remember, "cheap content is just that - cheap." Make sure you create content that people want to read and that will make them come back again and again.

In my opinion, blogs are the places where you can gain a tremendous amount of back links. If you haven't created a blog, go to blogger.com and get started, it's free. Search the Internet for blogs within your industry, or niche market, and post comments. Review products and/or services and post those reviews on other sites to build back links.

There are plenty of ways to get your site visible, and thousands of ways to build links, but one thing is certain, you must get started. Sometimes, getting started is the hardest thing to do, but when it comes to search engine optimization, nobody is going to do it for you. However, if you do find someone to do it, it will cost you. There are plenty of SEO companies, just search Google.
