Why now is the best time to start a home based business!
As I'm writing this article, the Dow Jones is dropping faster than George Bush's popularity. The main Canadian stock index has dropped over 10% this week! China, UK, Japan, and many other countries around the world have declining stock markets, and many economists don't see it getting better any time soon.
The sub-prime mortgage crisis is shaking things up pretty badly. Although originating in the U.S., the devastation is spreading throughout the entire world. The greed, created in the U.S., has shown its ugly face all around the world.
Financial institutions everywhere are tightening up credit to the point that small business and regular folks like you and I have to seriously reconsider budgets and next year's expenditures. It's also the right time to start a home based business.
Who's to blame for all this?
The Conservatives say it's the Liberals for forcing banks to lower lending standards to encourage home ownership? Many articles and web sites support this argument. In fact, some say it was Clinton who actually signed a bill back in the early 1990's to force lending institutes to loan money to low income families.
The bill was then taken to the next level by ACORN, a group supported by Obama and other Liberals like Barney Frank. So if you're looking to blame it on the Liberals, there is plenty of information to backup your argument.
On the other hand, the Liberals are saying it's the Conservatives fault for failing to properly regulate investment banking and securities activity. A good argument for the Liberals. It's hard to put regulations on the institutions that may bring you personal gain. Many say that Wall Street execs and government officials are in bed with one another. A hard point to argue against!
Aren't the banks and investment houses partly responsible? Aren't they the ones that encouraged a culture of short-term greed, excessive executive compensation, and high-risk instruments? I'm sure you could find some individuals that would have good arguments for these questions.
Let's not for get the unqualified prospects, for being naive enough to think that their income levels could justify home ownership, and accepting the "sweet talk" of the real estate brokers and loan officers. I believe a lot of us fell into that trap; if not, we may not be in this mess today.
I would have to say that we all share in the blame for thinking that the real estate bubble would keep getting bigger and bigger, forever and ever... Back in 2000, I did mention to a real estate agent that I didn't think the real estate prices could not continue to increase at the current rate. Well, like they say...what goes up, must come down!
I don't think the Americans and/or world learned anything from the Savings and Loan Crisis in the 1980s. Now, $700 Billion U.S. plus many billions more worldwide are being poured into a system that is clearly corrupt and in need of cleansing and a radical overhaul.
Luckily for Canada and the U.S., national elections are helping us focus attention on the bailout, err... rescue package. Unfortunately, no government, private corporation or individual is wealthy or wise enough to steer us to salvation. We need more than a savior or maverick as president.
Not even a Sarah Palin wink will do the trick, although I understand she has done wonders for Tina Fey's acting career...
The solution to this mess?
The government, Democrats and Republicans alike, bankers, financial advisers, stock brokers, moms and dads, me and you, are all responsible for the mess we are in. Greed has run rampant and it needs to be stopped. So, is there a solution to the problem? I believe there is, but it has to start with each one of us.
We need people, all around the world, to stand up and take responsibility on their own. Stop pointing fingers! One way we can take responsibility is by starting a home based business. Stop waiting for the government to bail you out (we see where that's going).
Working from home will save you money on gasoline. Having a home based business will allow you to earn more money. Working from home will increase your tax deductions, which means more money in your pocket. If you earn more money, you will spend more. I believe that will help the economy!
Instead of using your credit card and spending money you do not have, you can earn money and pay cash for the items you so desire. I believe that will help the economy!
I propose that everyone start a home business. By doing so, it will allow you to make more money, and save gasoline. It may even solve our financial and energy crisis.
